Proudly recognizing distinguished South Florida seniors who have overcome considerable adversity in achieving high school graduation and college acceptance. Our annual ceremony, in collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami, honors two graduating high school seniors with generous awards towards their journey through college graduation.

The journey of a lifetime begins with the first step and we, alongside our dedicated partners at The Motivational Edge, ensure that first stride is one that an under-served, capable and motivated young person can make confidently. The Irie Foundation Allapattah Music & Literacy Center enables blossoming students to fulfill their hunger for education through academic programming and provides nourishment for their spirits through mentorship, musical and cultural experiences, and scholarship opportunities.

“We are building the foundation for future leaders of our society and we are proud to have made this first stride in our journey towards self-improvement for the young people of South Florida!” — Ian Grocher, more popularly known as DJ Irie.

Irie Foundation Allapattah Music and Literacy Center

Alongside our wonderful friends at South Florida After-school All-stars, we provide insightful enrichment and exciting experiences to under-served and under-resourced at-risk youth in the South Florida community. Each year, eighth graders from of our Miami-Dade County partner schools enjoy engaging in enlightening sociocultural experiences otherwise unavailable to them. Complete with classroom instruction as well as off-campus field trips, we feature at least one activation per month from September to June, ranging from performing and fine arts to sporting events and more. Our goal is to expose today's under-privileged students to the finer aspects of life as they #aspIRIE towards transforming their lives into better and more fulfilling tomorrow!

For a few years now, Irie and The Irie Foundation have supported our Diplomas Now partners in their initiative to target at-risk youth in seeking to improve behavior, attendance, and course performance. One of the areas in which Irie is most passionate is in being able to encourage young people to stay in school and improve their grades, hence his involvement with the quarterly Report Card Conference at Booker T Washington Sr High School.

While serving Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Diplomas Now has attributed to such successes as a 53% reduction in the number of ninth‐graders failing math and a 42% reduction in the number of ninth-graders failing English.

Cultural Passport Program

In partnership with A Spring of Hope, we're empowering South Florida’s at-risk youth with the tools they need to provide sustainable water sources to over 1600 children spread across 5 rural regions in South Africa. In connecting our local learners with peers halfway across the globe who are deeply affected by our world’s water crisis, our goal is to provide our South Florida After-School All-Stars with formative enrichment that boosts their optimism and #InspIRIEs affective action as they #AspIRIE toward a better tomorrow!
